Terms of Service

Welcome to Groce. By downloading, installing, or using the Groce mobile application (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by Jordan L. Araujo Jr. (“we”, “us”, or “our”), reachable at jordan@araujojordan.com.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and us. By using Groce you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms, as well as our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference.

2. Description of Service

Groce is a collaborative grocery list application for Android and iOS. It lets you create, edit, and share grocery lists with other users in real time. Features include barcode scanning to identify products, automatic product images, and shared lists that sync across devices.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Groce. By using the Service you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

In addition, by completing sign-up you self-attest that you are of legal age to purchase alcohol, tobacco, and other age-restricted products in your jurisdiction. If you cannot truthfully make this attestation, you are not permitted to use the Service. Users who decline this attestation will not be granted access.

4. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Keeping your account credentials secure and not sharing your password.
• All activity that occurs under your account, whether or not authorised by you.
• Notifying us immediately at jordan@araujojordan.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Groce to:

• Post or transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, or fraudulent.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any other user’s lists or account.
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or interact with the Service.
• Falsely attest to your legal age or otherwise misrepresent your eligibility under Section 3.
• Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its underlying infrastructure.

6. User Content

You retain ownership of all content you create within Groce (list names, item names, photos, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service to you and your authorised collaborators.

We do not access, read, or use your grocery list content for any purpose other than operating the Service.

7. Sharing and Collaboration

When you share a list with another user, that user gains access to all items in that list and can see the display names of other collaborators. You are responsible for ensuring you only share lists with people you trust. We are not liable for content disclosed as a result of a sharing action you initiate.

8. Third-Party Services

Groce integrates with third-party services including Google Firebase and Google AdMob. Your use of these services through Groce is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. See our Privacy Policy for a full list.

9. Intellectual Property

The Groce name, logo, app design, and all underlying software are owned by Jordan L. Araujo Jr. and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, with or without notice. You may stop using the Service at any time. To request deletion of your account and data, see our Account Deletion page.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. You use the Service at your own risk.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Jordan L. Araujo Jr. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of Canada. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, via an in-app message). Continued use of the Service after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
